Booking Information FAQ

When is the conference?

For directors of children’s services, the conference opens with registration and lunch from 12noon on Wednesday 5 July. The ‘all members’ conference starts from 11am on Thursday 6 July (registration open from 8:30am). The conference will conclude on Friday 7 July around 2.30pm.

Who attends conference?

The conference is exclusively for ADCS members – all of whom are senior leaders in children’s services, and as a result provides a unique opportunity for peers to get together and share best practice and experiences. If you are not currently a member of ADCS and would like to attend the conference, please contact info@adcs.org.uk for further information.

Who is speaking?

Information on speakers will be announced in due course. Updates will be available on the ADCS website and in the weekly ADCS ebulletin.

What workshop sessions are there?

To enable registered delegates to attend the workshops that are of greatest interest to them, delegates will be contacted by email approximately 5 weeks prior to the conference with workshop information requesting their preferences. Places will be allocated on a first come-first served basis. There will be an opportunity at the conference to sign up to workshops, however, it is possible that some workshops may be full by this time.

What is included in the price?

We are delighted to return to The Midland Hotel in Manchester, and as a result of our long-standing relationship we have been able to freeze the price of residential conference bookings for the 7th year in a row. The full residential package includes overnight accommodation, breakfast, lunch, evening meal as well as refreshments throughout the day and a conference programme of plenary debate and workshop sessions. The conference is primarily a residential event and we encourage as many members to stay and make the most of the networking opportunities available, however, there are non-residential options available. Manchester is due to be very busy during the week of conference as a number of large events are taking place in the city. If you are making alternative arrangements for accommodation, we recommend you do so as early as possible.

How do I book and pay?

All booking forms can be found above. Completed forms should be returned to rebecca.denny@adcs.org.uk NB: As conference bedroom availability at the hotel is limited, please ensure your booking form is returned by 19 May to guarantee a residential place at the Midland Hotel.

Invoices will be sent out shortly after booking forms are received. All local authority booking forms must include a purchase order. We are not able to confirm a booking for the conference without a purchase order reference number. Please email rebecca.denny@adcs.org.uk if you have any queries. If you are paying as an individual, and not through a local authority, a purchase order reference is not necessary. Please state this in your cover email or within the booking form.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations received after 19 May 2017 will incur 100% of charges. Delegate replacements can be made up to seven days prior to the conference but the replacement delegate must be an ADCS member. Please note that it is not normally possible to send a substitute to the DCS only aspect of the conference.
