Comment on Research into LA Expenditure on Children’s Services

Commenting on the research being undertaken by the DfE, DCLG and HMT into local authority expenditure on children’s services, Dave Hill, Vice President of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, said:

“We welcome the current research being undertaken by the DfE, DCLG and HMT into local authority expenditure on children’s services. ADCS are part of the steering group which will oversee this project and last year our members also provided information for the ADCS Safeguarding Pressures Phase 4 research which showed that activity across the system was continuing to rise.

It is important that central government understand the pressures that face all local authorities who continue to work hard to minimise the impact of reducing resources and increasing demand on the services available to children, young people and their families. These services can make a huge difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and can be the difference between poor or good outcomes for our children.”
