  • Analysis of SIF results to date by Ofsted

Ofsted has produced a summary of common weaknesses in local authorities that were judged inadequate in inspections, between January and May 2015, under the single inspection framework. It aims to help local authorities identify whether they have these or similar weaknesses and improve practice.

Weaknesses have predominantly been found within the following key areas:

  • Management oversight
  • Changes in social worker, managers and leaders
  • Performance management and data
  • Drift and delay
  • Child sexual exploitation, missing and return interviews.

Trafford Council was inspected in early 2015 under Ofsted’s Single Inspection Framework. The authority produced an excellent presentation about the experience for colleagues in the North West and agreed to share this more widely.

  • LGA learning event about the SIF

In September 2014 the LGA held a ‘Learning from the Single Inspection Framework,’ event in London. It was attended by 100 elected members and officers from across the country.
