South East September Update 2015

Coaching Programme: Continuing demand for Coaching to Improve Performance and associated courses: 14/19 have received in-house courses, others send delegates to cross-regional courses. “Train the trainer” module has now produced its first graduates, and the regional approach now being delivered in-house as well as by regional colleagues. “Leading change” module to address whole system change management also being deployed.

Topical Peer Challenge now matured with 36 completed in 7 rounds over 4 years. Round 8 challenges underway: Bracknell Forest (care leavers - October); Brighton and Hove (children’s centres – completed in July); Medway (early help – November); Milton Keynes (school attendance and linked issues – December); Portsmouth (CSE – November); Southampton (data analysis and use – tba 2016); Windsor and Maidenhead (referral and assessment – January); Wokingham (children in need – September).

Data Benchmarking Group: Q1 2015-16 and Annual 2014-15 benchmarking published on time. Development work underway on a new suite of Adoption and SEND indicators. Very successful group; highly valued.

Regional Adoption Leadership Board: EoI recently submitted to DfE in response to latest regionalisation initiatives. Regional Board continues to flourish.

Children’s Social Care Workforce project is implementing “Memorandum of Co-operation (MoC) for Managing the Supply and Demand of Children’s Social Workers” with 16/19 signed up to Phase 1 and 10/19 contributing to Phase 2.

Early Help Project is underway in response to the Ofsted thematic report “Early help: whose responsibility?” published in March 2015.

We are also supporting the Higher Apprenticeship development work of the Children, Young People and Families Trailblazer Group supported by ADCS and LGA.
