Comment on Working Together consultation

Commenting on the DfE’s consultation on statutory guidance, ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’, Jenny Coles, Chair of the ADCS Families, Communities & Young People Policy Committee, said:

“Ensuring that children are able to live safe, happy lives is one of the highest priorities for all local authorities, and we work together with a wide range of partners to do this. The DfE’s consultation on changes to statutory guidance, ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’, proposes that safeguarding partners in a local area will be given 15-months to transition to new safeguarding arrangements replacing LSCBs. This seems like a sensible period of time for local areas to develop their new arrangements and to ensure that they are properly and safely implemented so as not to risk weakening existing safeguards for children and young people or, most importantly, children’s outcomes. ADCS will be responding formally to the consultation following discussions with our members.”
