DCS Turnover Rate

Alison O’Sullivan, President of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services, said:

‘It is the role of the Director of Children’s Services to challenge themselves and others in order to secure the very best outcomes for all children and young people in their area. Strong leadership, a desire to help, a belief in public service and a clear focus on advocating for the most vulnerable children and families who cannot speak up for themselves are all essential requirements of the job.

‘It’s not an easy role to hold but I know that I and my fellow directors are quite sure it is the best job in the world. Our own DCS update (March 2015) shows that the turnover rate for the post has remained reasonably constant over the last 3 years so there is always a need to encourage more aspiring leaders to the role.’
