ICHA letter on fees for residential care

Commenting in CYP Now on the letter from the ICHA on fees for children’s residential care Charlotte Ramsden, Chair of the Association’s Health, Care & Additional Needs Policy Committee, said:

“In this letter the Independent Children’s Homes Association has outlined an increase of costs that are applicable across the whole sector. The government’s ongoing austerity policy has placed huge pressure on local authority budgets and at the same time we are experiencing soaring levels of demand for our services. As a result councils have had to make tough decisions about some of the vital services we provide to children, young people and their families. Given that this year’s Budget announced nothing for children’s social care the financial challenges we currently face look set to deepen. Residential care homes provide essential help and support to some of our most vulnerable children and young people and we will continue to work together with providers to ensure that children and young people receive the services that they need within the limited financial resources available to us.”
