Children’s Centre Funding

Jenny Coles, Chair of the ADCS Families, Communities and Young People Policy Committee, said:
“Reductions in funding in recent years have encouraged local authorities to both review and reshape their children’s centre provision through smarter commissioning, co-location with other public services and a by adopting a ‘hub and spoke’ approach to working in local communities.
“Resources may well be diminishing but need is not, local authorities must continue to develop ways of integrated working with health and public health partners in order to continue providing valuable early help to children and families when and where they need it most. If support services are no longer in place to deal with issues before they escalate then there will certainly be longer term cost implications for all local authorities.”
