ADCS response to the Local Government Finance Settlement
Rachel Dickinson, ADCS Vice President, said:
“The Budget and this settlement recognise some of the short term, immediate pressures facing local authorities, whilst this is helpful it falls short of the sufficient, long term core funding strategy we urgently need to ensure services are sustainable going forward, and that the needs of children, young people and families are met at the earliest opportunity. There is simply not enough money in the system to meet the level of need in our communities and this settlement does not offer councils and communities the reassurance they need for the future. It is crucial that the Spending Review properly acknowledges the pressures local authorities are facing.”
