DfE invest £17m in sector-led improvement

Alison Michalska, ADCS President, said:

“Funding for sector-led improvement in children’s services is to be welcomed – this is the best way to improve the services we provide to children and families. Children’s services flourish when corporate and political leadership is well informed and engaged providing effective support and challenge to directors of children’s services and their teams. The development of the Partners in Practice programme serves as further recognition from government that the skills, expertise and experience to improve children’s services lie in the sector. Whilst we welcome this acknowledgement, ADCS is absolutely clear that all local authorities have something to offer and something to learn, irrespective of their most recent inspection result. We hope Regional Improvement Alliances will bring a greater level of coherence to the ongoing development of sector-led improvement work already happening the regions.”
