Responding to the Secretary of State for Education's announcement of new SEND and inclusion groups and national lead, Andy Smith, ADCS President, said:
“ADCS welcomes today’s announcement from the Education Secretary regarding a series of measures designed to make mainstream schools more inclusive for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
"ADCS has long advocated for a reimagined, truly inclusive education system that allows the majority of children to be educated in mainstream settings alongside their peers. ADCS hope that the joint efforts of experts across the sector will lead to a roadmap for meaningful changes, with the best interests of our most vulnerable children and young people at the forefront.
"We look forward to working with Dame Christine as the new SEND strategic advisor and the government to improve the experiences and outcomes for children and young people.”
