Responding to the Government’s announcement of £25 million over two years for the fostering system, which will include the recruitment of a further 400 new fostering households, Andy Smith, President of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS), said:
“Providing children in our care with stable, loving homes and appropriately meeting their needs is local authorities’ overriding concern.
“There is an ongoing shortage of foster carers but the care they can offer can transform a child’s life.
“This extra funding will help us to work together as groups of LAs on recruitment and training to better ensure that every child who needs a fostering placement can access one and is fully supported.”
