Nicola Curley, Chair of the ADCS Workforce Policy Committee, said:
“Recruiting and retaining a skilled workforce remains a challenge for local authorities, particularly in relation to our social work workforce. Therefore, we hope the new government are considering what support, training and ongoing development opportunities are available nationally to encourage more people to choose social work as a career. Crucially, any initiative also needs to support the most diverse range of social workers to remain in the profession for as long as possible, and to enable them ultimately to progress to leadership roles if they choose to.”
