Apprenticeships Standards Update December 2015

Children, Young People and Families Higher Apprenticeship Standards

Update from Ros Garrod Mason - Project Support Manager.

Where are we up to with Children, Young People and Families Higher Apprenticeship Standards?

The apprenticeship standards for both the Children Young People and Families Practitioner and the Children and Young People Manager were submitted to the Dept of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) on schedule, on 29 October 2015. As part of the process BIS then consulted further on the standards and this resulted in some final amendments to the standards. The latest versions can be found here:

Children Young People and Families Practitioner

Children and Young People Manager

We will find out from BIS whether they have been accepted as the national standards for Children, Young People and Family Work, within the next 6 weeks.

What next?

The next stage of the process is to develop the Assessment Plan for the apprenticeship. The Children, Young People and Families Core Group is working with learning providers and assessment organisations to develop this. We aim to complete it by April 2016. We have to devise a synoptic end-test to demonstrate the competence of the apprentice at the end of the apprenticeship.

The Core Group also intends to start preliminary work on a level 5 apprenticeship for lead practitioners/advanced practitioners in children, young people and family work, as there was a demand for this from employers within the consultation.

Anyone wishing to contribute to either of these pieces of work, please contact Clair Davies or Ros Garrod-Mason.
