Commissioning of Residential Care Homes

Commenting in the Guardian about the commissioning of residential care homes, Ian Thomas, Chair of the ADCS Resources & Sustainability Policy Committee, said:

“Promoting better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people in our care is a priority for all of our members and their local authorities. Every placement is different because each child is different and each has their own individual needs. That is why effective strategic commissioning of high quality placements, which meet the needs of the children in our care, is crucial if we are to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable. So whilst local commissioning arrangements must reflect local circumstances placement options available within the care system must be designed, commissioned and delivered to ensure the available resources are used to secure the right placement at the right time for every young person to help them lead happy and successful lives.”
