CentreForum Report on Children and Young People’s Mental Health

Dave Hill, President of The Association of Directors of Children’s Services, said:
“As leaders of children services we know that timely access to mental health services can make a huge difference to children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing and that providing help and support earlier can, in some cases, prevent lifetime mental health problems from developing in the first place. But this report and previous evidence suggests there are considerable weaknesses in the system including that children, young people and their families face unacceptable variations in quality of services, access and waiting times – and this is not good enough. Going forward we will continue to engage with the Department of Health, NHS England and our Health and Wellbeing Boards to address these weaknesses and our collective challenge will be to transform these services at pace for those who rely on them most.”
